Saint Louis Tower Grove Park Tour Professional Review and Guide
"Like Central Park in New York, Boston Common, and Boston Public Garden, Tower Grove Park is a National Historic Landmark. With its faux ruins, grand gates, whimsical pavilions, statuary, and ponds, it is considered the best-preserved walking park in the nation and one of the few surviving Victorian parks in the world.
This walk covers two miles of trails on the park’s eastern side, which is the most ornamental. The western side contains playing fields, a wild bird garden, and some stone stables, which are the park’s oldest buildings. You may want to explore this area as well. In this consummate walking park, pedestrians have the right of way, but watch for traffic when you cross the streets. Special attractions: One of the world’s few remaining Victorian parks, intriguing architectural details, fanciful gazebos, fountain and ponds, lush plantings."
