Saint Louis Central West End

Saint Louis Central West End Professional Review and Guide

"An array of shops and restaurants and ornate lampposts can be found along Euclid Avenue and the nearby side streets. What you see today, however, is reclaimed beauty and usefulness. After World War II, the Central West End, like so many urban areas nationwide, had become blighted. Today, this neighborhood once again is vital and captivating. Restored and well-maintained homes, trendy outdoor cafes, and one-of-a-kind shops lure people to the Central West End, making it one of the premier spots in which to walk and people watch.

On a balmy weekend morning, when you are hunting for outdoor seating and a brunch menu, you will wish people found this area less alluring. Special attractions: The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis and the world’s largest collection of mosaics; distinctive architecture and turn-of-the-century neighborhoods; eclectic shops, galleries, antique stores, and eateries; tree-lined boulevards and a European feel."

This is a fun and enjoyable family walk. Avoid walking around in this area after 10:00 P.M. central time. The neighborhood at night can be a little rough.
