The Victory Section of the Ozark Trail is a 22-mile point-to-point with a six-mile loop on its eastern end. It can be handled by cyclists of all skill levels. While there are short and steep sections that will require portages, most grades are gentle enough to be ridden by beginners. The trail surface is single-track and old double-track roads. On the Victory Trail you will pedal through a typical Missouri hardwood forest with scattered stands of pines. Upalika Pond Recreation Area is near the midpoint of the trail. It is an excellent campsite if you’re interested in riding the trail in two days, with a support vehicle meeting you at the campsite. If you don’t feel like riding the trail back to your starting point, you can make it into a loop by returning to your car via forest roads.
