Onondaga Cave State Park

Onondaga Cave State Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"During fine weather at Onondaga Cave State Park, you’ll wander through deep forests, tramp across scenic glades, and tiptoe along sheer bluffs over the Meramec River. When summer’s heat and humidity make surface hiking a miserable trudge, you can escape to underground beauty on guided walking tours of Onondaga and Cathedral caves."

52 and 47 my wife and I took this as our very first hiking trail. For us it was a work out, but it's our first trek. I hope it will inspire others to do the same. peaceful and beautiful. Just do it

The trails at Pickle Springs are rocky and have roots growing through them. This isn’t a trail to walk with weak ankles or knees, and be forewarned as we face this spring’s rains; the trails become conduits for rainwater. I was very thankful for my Goretex boots on this particular hike.

This is a neat little trail. It is easy, but therefore can be crowded.

What a great little trail, so many things in such a short distance. I'm definitely going back to this one!

This great little trail is jam-packed with interesting features. Visited it for a morning hike with my two young children (3 and 5)-- they loved the rock formations, natural bridges, springs, small waterfalls and bluffs. I was amazed that we were able to see so much variety in just 2 miles.

Adults could easily hike it in 45 minutes, we took two hours with the kids.

The trail is clearly marked and even has strategically located benches installed as an Eagle scout project. There is no water or bathroom at the trail head.
