The Lake of the Ozarks, MO

The Lake of the Ozarks, MO Professional Review and Guide

"Located 165 miles from Kansas City, the Lake of the Ozarks is one of the Midwest’s premier playgrounds. Because of the increased speed limit and the construction of new highways, it is a quick and easy day trip from Kansas City. The largest lake in Missouri, it offers 1,150 miles of shoreline (more than the entire state of California). Linking the east side of the lake to the west side is the new Lake of the Ozarks Community Bridge, a toll bridge that considerably reduces the drive time to get around the area.

The lake region covers 54,000 acres, and within its borders are one hundred marinas, dozens of waterfront restaurants and watering holes, and hundreds of shops, services, and businesses. Water activities abound from April through October. Average daytime air and water temperatures in spring run about 60 degrees, warming up to an average of 90 degrees in July and leveling off to about 70 degrees in fall. Off-season is a good time to go to the lake, because it’s less crowded."
