Sports Complex Park Professional Review and Guide

"Primarily being developed for mountain bikers by mountain bikers, Sports Complex Park is the newest addition to the Jackson County park system. The Earthriders Mountain Bike Club is building this trail system around the remains of an abandoned exercise trail. It follows old double-track through wooded slopes and includes a small, growing network of tight, twisty single-track. When completed, the Earthriders hope to have more than five miles of trail in a continuous loop. The double-track parts of the trail are just the right challenge for beginners.

Some parts are still covered by potholed pavement and foundation left over from the old workout stations from the exercise trail. More experienced riders will like the new single-track network in the woods. This compact trail system is perfect for quick lunchtime or after-work rides. With its small area and sheltering woods, it's also a great time for those winter rides when you are hesitant to strike out on a long, wild trail in southern Missouri. These trails are located immediately south of Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City."

This trail is not longer maintained or ridable but there are plenty of other trails around to keep everyone happy.

Short but fun. Not an easy area for beginners. Quick ups and downs, tight areas, rocks and logs. The local mtb group called the Earthriders built the trail and have done a great job. I'd give it a higher rating if it was longer, more documented, easier to find, etc. Its a great start and the Earthriders are a committed group to mtb riding, hopefully this area will continue to grow.
