Lake Wappapello Section

Lake Wappapello Section Professional Review and Guide

"The Lake Wappapello Section of the Ozark Trail passes over a wider range of habitats than almost any other trail in the Ozarks. Over its 31-mile length, it crosses creeks, follows mountain ranges, cuts through open fields, and skirts the edge of Lake Wappapello. With a six-mile loop in its middle, its image on the map is that of a python that swallowed a pig.

Most of the trail follows single-track and narrow double-track, with a few stretches of gravel roads that access wildlife food plots. Though it has many easy sections, overall it is just a bit too rough for novices. With so much water and variety of habitats, wildlife is thick along the trail. This trail is located 25 miles north of Poplar Bluff."

Spring and fall are the best times to ride this section of the Ozark Trail. Summer can be hot and humid, but you can remedy that with a dip in the lake.
