Pine Ridge Recreation Area Professional Review and Guide
"Pine Ridge Recreation Area is a great place to escape the hustle-bustle of college life at the University of Missouri in Columbia, or the craziness of civil service at the state capital in nearby Jefferson City. It’s located in the Cedar Creek District of the Mark Twain National Forest, on land that’s in the transition zone between forest and tallgrass prairie. A grove of pines planted by the Civilian Conservation Corps shades the camp, and Pine Ridge is a trailhead for the 36-mile Cedar Creek Trail. The Katy Trail, a 225-mile rails-to-trails conversion running from Clinton to St. Charles, follows the nearby Missouri River, and one of its most scenic stretches is a few miles west of Pine Ridge."
