A physically engaging trail. Some parts are steeper than those we have encountered on other trails in the St. Louis area. The trailhead is not marked but is located at coordinates 37.7142196, -90.1762285. Blazes are sparse and often hard to see. Blazes are nonexistent at forks and intersections with logging and other trails...this makes for an even more challenging hike! Directions to the trailhead area are simple: I55 South to Highway 32 West; almost immediately turn onto State Highway B South. Stay on State Highway B for at least 14 miles until it intersects with State Road WW. Take State Road WW until you come to Bidwell Creek Road, a gravel road on the right side of State Road WW. You will ford a few shallow creeks until you come to the trailhead. There is some offroad parking available. We hiked all day and did not see a soul other than a fellow who was out hunting squirrels. All in all, this made for one of the best hikes we have enjoyed in the St. Louis region. The serenity is priceless.
