Karkaghne Section

Karkaghne Section Professional Review and Guide

"The Karkaghne Section of the Ozark Trail follows 18 miles of single-track along ridge tops and through deep hollows in this rugged part of Mark Twain National Forest. This is a difficult ride, with lots of climbs and technical sections, especially in its eastern third.

Novices probably shouldn't hit this particular trail. The route is well marked with gray diamonds and Ozark Trail symbols nailed to trailside trees. This trail is a lonesome ramble through remote forested mountains, with lots of scenery as a payoff for your effort. This trail is located 20 miles west of Lesterville."

Spring and fall are the best times to ride this trail. Cooler summer days would be fun, too, because the trail is shaded for most it's length. The wet crossing of Bee Fork and the remoteness of the trail make winter riding a cool proposition.
