Roaring River State Park: Cassville to Eagle Rock, MO Professional Review and Guide
"A 15-mile drive beginning in Cassville and dropping into the White River Hills to Eagle Rock. The first part of the drive crosses the southwestern part of the Springfield Plateau. The hills are only slightly dissected and rolling. This is a transition region, where prairies from the plains once graded into the forests of the rugged Ozarks. The bedrock is Mississippian limestone, known for its sinkholes, caves, and springs. About 4 miles south of Cassville, on the way to Roaring River State Park, the road leaves the plateau and descends into the watershed of the White River section.
Special attractions: Roaring River State Park and Fish Hatchery, Roaring River Cove Hardwoods Natural Area, Sugar Camp Scenic Drive, and Mark Twain National Forest; hiking trails, trout fishing, glades, wildflowers, scenic views, fall colors, camping, canoeing, horseback riding, and hunting. This eTrail is a complete description of a scenic drive with a route map and information on the best travel seasons, interesting sites, recreation opportunities, camping locations, and much more."
