North Fork Recreation Area

North Fork Recreation Area Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Known to locals as Hammond Mill Camp, North Fork Recreation Area overlooks another of Missouri’s many cool, clear, spring-fed streams—the North Fork of the White River. A spring pours into the river a short hike from the far end of the campground. The picnic area and river access are at the far end of camp, where a low bluff overlooks an exceptional spot for a swim during the dog days of an Ozarks summer.

The 6,600-acre Devil’s Backbone Wilderness wraps around camp to the east, south, and west, and the Ridge Runner Trail heads north from the trailhead near the picnic area. Whether you hike, mountain bike, canoe, or just hang out, you can be as busy or as lazy as you want in this Ozarks haven."
