Arrow Rock State Historic Site Professional Review and Guide

"Unlike the landscapes surrounding most campgrounds in this book, Arrow Rock isn’t a natural scenic wonder. Its campground is still a peaceful hideaway, but the area’s draw is its history.

The town’s name is derived from the nearby bluffs visible for miles on the Missouri River, which were noted on a 1732 French explorers map as Pierre a Flèche, or “rock of arrows.”"

Covered the 4 mi. plus 6 mi. Whispering Pines Trail in 4.5 hours with my brother. We carried about 25 pounds each in the rain in prep for a future 120 mile through hike. If you are going to do the 6 mi., you definitely need to do the additional 4 mi. in order to see some of the most beautiful areas I've seen in Missouri. It's a beautiful park and seems to have a nice scenic campground. This park lies very close to my brother, so I will be back to camp and see some more trails soon. Bring a lunch and 3 liters of h2o was plenty.

The trails at Hawn state Park are very fun. Some of them are fairly easy and others are more of a challenge the one's that are more of a challenge are much more beautiful. I can't remember the name of this one trail that I hiked on but it was a challenge and when I got to the top, I had a beautiful view. Their where azalas growing naturally and I also had a good view of Farmington Mo. The view I had was breathtaking. I only wish that I would of brought a camera with me that day.
