Red Rock Falls

Red Rock Falls Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Red Rock Falls is a delight for travelers, geology fans, and adventurous kids and hikers. In what seems like the middle of endless farm fields, Mound Creek finds its way into a fairy-tale grotto of forest and rugged sandstone cliffs in all manner of otherworldly forms. It is a stunning setting and a wonderful destination to explore, with crannies and nooks at every turn. There is no formal trail system here, but a network of established social trails leads to the area’s most alluring attractions. The creek snakes into the gorge and over jumbles of boulders to a “where did this come from?” 30-foot waterfall gliding to a secluded pool below.

Cliffs stained with moss and lichen flank the pool. The slender and very pretty waterfall reveals an elegance as it slips down the crease in the rocks. The creek takes a hard right at the bottom of the falls, and the shallow pool is great for a refreshing swim on sweltering summer days."
