Lake That Speaks Loop Professional Review and Guide
"If by some strange occurrence this ride were suddenly 30 miles from the Twin Cities, it would quickly become a favorite of many riders. But since it's located in essentially the middle of nowhere, it's highly doubtful you'll encounter other riders on this loop.
What you will see, however, is a lake that is one of the most prolific breeding grounds in Minnesota for geese and other waterfowl. Lac Qui Parle means "Lake That Speaks," and this wide spot in the Minnesota River does that during waterfowl migration, when hundreds of thousands of ducks, geese, swans, and pelicans pass through the area. Besides the state park, a 32,000-acre wildlife refuge surrounds the lake, providing habitat for 229 species of birds. Part of the beauty of this ride is the isolation and feeling of stepping back to a time before asphalt and assorted two-and four-wheel machines."
