Snake Creek Trail

Snake Creek Trail Professional Review and Guide

"The Snake Creek Trail is wide doubletrack over its entire length and offers tread with loose rocks, sand, gravel, and hardpacked dirt. The rocks appear almost exclusively on the four big hills you’ll be riding up or down. Technical difficulty is medium, but you will need to negotiate these sections well enough to avoid an unexpected endo. The field roads across the top of the ridge are packed and mostly smooth—a good place to really open ’er up.

This is also where you’ll find splendiferous views of the ridges and valleys of the surrounding area, especially scenic when draped in the colors of autumn. The first significant downhill is littered with balance-skewing rocks, and as a bonus has several large water bars built right into the trail. With the speed of the descent and the size of these things, you’ll have the opportunity to get BIG air (even if you don’t want to). The first one surprised me and nearly had me “riding” upside down! Use caution. Tread: Hard-packed and gravel doubletrack."
