Split Rock Lighthouse State Park

Split Rock Lighthouse State Park Professional Review and Guide

"The eponymous lighthouse is one of the few remaining lighthouses on the North Shore (it’s lit each year on November 10 to commemorate the anniversary of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald). A tall staircase takes visitors from the lighthouse down the sheer bluffs to the rocky beach below.

Beyond the lighthouse are 12 miles of hiking trails, some of which go along the lakeshore. There’s also access to 15 miles of the paved Gitchi-Gami State Trail. Campsites are basic tent sites, and most are secluded. The park is very busy during the summer; advance reservations are strongly recommended. Pets are allowed."
