North Shore US Highway 61 from Duluth to the Canadian Border

North Shore: US Highway 61 from Duluth to the Canadian Border Professional Review and Guide

"Hugging the rugged shoreline of Lake Superior for 150 miles, U.S. Highway 61 serves up some of the most spectacular scenery in the country—richly wooded hills, rock-bound bays and inlets, and the limitless horizon of the world’s largest lake. The view from Split Rock Lighthouse and the nautical atmosphere of Duluth, Two Harbors, and Grand Marais will have you humming “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.”

Special attractions include: Stunning views of Lake Superior and the Sawtooth Mountains; Canal Park, Glensheen mansion, and Skyline Drive in Duluth; strolling, shopping, dining, and lake watching in Grand Marais and Two Harbors; spectacular waterfalls at Gooseberry, Cascade, Judge C. R. Magney, and Grand Portage State Parks; historic Split Rock Lighthouse; agate hunting and trout fishing at the mouths of numerous coldwater streams; Grand Portage National Monument, a reconstructed eighteenth century fur-trading post; hiking, rock-climbing, kayaking, fishing, cross-country and downhill skiing."

Beautiful views of the north shore of Lake Superior. Reminds me of the coasts of Maine.
