"Tucked in a pastoral pocket of the Root River Valley in Minnesota’s southeastern corner, Lanesboro is one of the state’s most beautiful towns. How can we go wrong with honors like the “Great American Main Street Award,” one of the “100 Best Small Art Towns,” and a top 50 placing in “Best Outdoor Sports Towns”? How about one of the “20 Best Dream Towns in America”? All this is evident with the first step into this fantastic town of quiet neighborhoods and scenic splendor. Wonderfully preserved gingerbread Victorian homes line the streets. Many of these now serve as dreamy bed-and-breakfasts." Read more

"This ride travels through parts of Minnesota’s "driftless" area. You will see firsthand how the last glacier, 12, 000 years ago, receded, creating this beautiful area from the remnants of the Ice Age. Circling around two old rail lines converted to bike paths, you will have several ride options as the road route intersects the bike trails. Traveling south, you may find yourself behind an Amish buggy as you ride to Harmony. Then, making a loop to the north, you will ride through a town once called Stringtown. Passing through Houston, a town named after a general from Texas, you will ride up the valley floor toward Money Creek. Riding the ridges, you will soon be coasting deep into the Root River Valley, forested with limestone and sandstone walls, arriving in Lanesboro in Bluff Country." Read more
