Swift Lake Park Campground Professional Review and Guide
"Swift Lake is a nice stop, with swimming and boating available, as well as a short walking path. Here are a playground and some trees in a part of the state where that can be rare. The campsites are mostly open and somewhat closely spaced, although it’s quiet enough to not usually be a problem. Pets are allowed.
If the northern part of the state is about forests and dramatic glacial terrain, the southern part of the state has an entirely different feel. Here you will find historic old river towns, remnants of the tragic US- Dakota War of 1862, evidence of pioneer life (especially that of Laura Ingalls Wilder), reminders of Jesse James, ancient petroglyphs, country lanes, and, to the west, prairie land that stretches for miles (and will continue to expand, as land used for other purposes is slowly being returned to its native prairie state)."
