Superior Hiking Trail Bean and Bear Lakes, Mount Trudee, and Palisade Creek

Superior Hiking Trail: Bean and Bear Lakes, Mount Trudee, and Palisade Creek Professional Review and Guide

"A long walk with challenging sections and lots of up and down but overall a great hike. There are Bean and Bear lakes nestled between high diabase ridges, Mt. Trudee, High Falls, the Paul Bunyan Pine, and long, beautiful walks through maple and birch forests that are well worth all the effort and, in the fall, will be absolutely spectacular. Also spectacular is the steep cliff from which you view Bean and Bear lakes. So pick a nice day, bring a camera, start early, and enjoy a really special adventure on the Superior Hiking Trail. Sunny, clear, and eighty degrees! At least that was the weather forecast.

However, in the real world where Lake Superior is a major factor in determining the local weather conditions, it is windy, 48 degrees, and the fog is beginning to roll in off the great lake. Judy took the local weather forecast to heart and arrived at the parking lot in shorts, t-shirt and goosebumps; she is now busy adding layers: pants, fleece, and gloves. I am one step ahead of her and am already wearing my “Superior” survival gear! Sammy is out and about and ready to go. This is a good thing because she smells like she rolled in something that has been very dead for a very long time. Charlie is not with us, he bruised a pad on his paw on the last hike so is “sitting this one out.”"
