Bean and Bear Lakes

Bean and Bear Lakes Professional Review and Guide

"A day hike to the bluffs and overlooks 300 feet above these 2 alpine-like lakes, with scenic vistas of the two lakes and camping along their shores. This short section of the Superior Hiking Trail lies right outside the city of Silver Bay.

Surprisingly, in spite of its proximity to town, this is a great little hike that leads to a pair of unexpectedly scenic lakes walled in by towering bluffs. For people hiking the full length of the Superior Hiking Trail, this is another one of the gems that makes the trail so special, but it can also be recommended in its own right as a day hike. The trail also has several campsites amenable for an overnight stay."

A 90 degree day on the SHT is almost unheard of, but the skys were clear for hte first time in days and the views from the trail were spectacular.
