Rum River North County Park

Rum River North County Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The Rum River is one of those rivers that have a northerly feel yet are a short drive from the Twin Cities. I spent many a weekend along its banks as a Boy Scout. The trail starts at the main pavilion next to the parking lot. Basically, the trail follows the river as it forms the western boundary of this park. Both ends of the trail loop back onto the main trail to provide about 2 miles of hiking within the park.

From the pavilion, hike north along the paved trail that joins the river at a T-intersection, and take a right to follow the riverbank upstream. You’ll pass a platform that overlooks the river and presents a nice water’s-edge view both up- and downstream. The river is not too wide at this point, and the banks are covered in foliage and trees overhanging the water."
