Zumbro River South Fork

Zumbro River: South Fork Professional Review and Guide

"The small, gentle South Fork follows a wooded valley from Rochester north to Zumbro Lake. The South Fork begins in hills far south of Rochester. South of town, the stream is large enough to paddle, but several dams and riprapped areas make the stretch unappealing. Instead, begin your trip at the access just north of Silver Lake.

The riverside is pretty and wooded in places, and lined with suburban homes in others. There are a few outcrops and riffles along the way. Once you reach Zumbro Lake, paddle north to the Sandy Point access. The estimated minimum for good paddling is about 150 cfs (check the USGS website) or about 52.6 feet on the gauge on the 37th Street Bridge in Rochester."
