Vicksburg County Park Professional Review and Guide
"Vicksburg Park is where Renville County’s first business was located, a trading post run by Joseph Renville. It’s also the site of a now-abandoned ghost town along its eastern border that was inhabited from the late 1860s until 1905. Today the park features ancient granite and gneiss rock outcrops overlooking the Minnesota River. These unique rock formations are also the habitat of the juniper hairstreak butterfly and the five-lined skink, as well as other reptiles.
Other wildlife found in the park includes northern river otters, red foxes, white-tailed deer, mink, hawks, owls, wild turkeys, and a variety of songbirds. Campers can enjoy driving on, biking, or hiking the nearly 2 miles of road that wander through both grasslands and hardwoods. Work has been done to improve and expand the hiking and biking trails in recent years."
