Cannon Valley Trail

Cannon Valley Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Developed on a railroad bedway, the Cannon Valley Trail is a long, flat corridor stretching across the countryside between two communities. The landscape skirts the banks of the Cannon River as it meanders lazily between Cannon Falls eastward to Red Wing on the banks of the Mississippi River.

This 19.5-mile paved trail is a bikers’ highway that is also great for hiking. Parking areas are few and far between, however, so you can hike out-and-back, arrange a car shuttle, or consider a 9-plusmile push to either end from the middle trailhead access at Welch Station."

Nice, relatively easy trail. Most of the trial is actually a service road, but this park does not seem to be used much and it was very quiet. If you have aa portion afternoon (it can easily be walked in under an hour) where you would like to escape for a moment, this is a trail to consider.
