Baker Park Reserve

Baker Park Reserve Professional Review and Guide

"Like other parks past the western edge of the Twin Cities metro area, Baker Park Reserve’s 2,700 acres lie atop the Des Moines ground moraine—a remnant of the Wisconsin ice age—which covers this entire region.

Its rolling topography, myriad ice-block lakes, and maple–basswood-dominant forests are characteristics common to this part of Minnesota. Yet, like all other parks, Baker offers up its own personality to the intrepid hiker along its paved hiking/biking trails."

I entered on the Middle Road (Southeast) today. Hiked to see if the bridge was still out on the east side. They are driving pilings for the new bridge! I will post when it is done. I wore some blaze orange as it is bow hunting season down here. This area is beautiful.
I hiked about 7 miles on the Mazomani Trail and Carver Rapids Trail. I started out down the state access trail, then headed over to Jab's Farm. Here I left the Mazomani Trail and followed the Carver Rapids Trail, following the loop west towards the Minnesota River. I took this trail to the State Trail, then retraced to the point where the Carver Rapids Trail and the Middle Road trail (not shown on maps) meet. I used the Middle Road Trail to work around and rejoin the Mazomani Trail at its southern most point and then followed this around to the trailhead. Note: at this time, a bridge is out and the trail is closed on the eastern part of the trail.
