Mille Lacs Lake Challenge Ride Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Riding your bike around the "Great Spirit Lake," Minnesota’s second-largest inland body of water, you will discover the resounding beauty and history of this area. Known as Me-de-wa-kan by the local Chippewa tribe, the lake was later renamed Mille Lacs, meaning "thousand lakes," by the French explorers.
Today you will find many preserved historical sites and cottage communities around the 270 square miles of lake surface. For safety, the route is designed to be ridden clockwise. This will make it easier to swerve on and off the four main highways circling the lake. Starting in Onamia, the route twists and turns through the scenic lakefront communities, passing more than eighty resorts scattered along the ride, so enjoy!"
