Mille Lacs Kathio State Park

Mille Lacs Kathio State Park Professional Review and Guide

"This park has archaeological significance in the form of ancient Native American villages that were first discovered in the 1970s. Hiking trails through this part of the park, which has since been designated a National Historic Landmark District, have interpretive signage, and there’s an interpretive center open in the summer with details about the rich history of the park.

There’s plenty of recreation too, including a 100-foot fire tower open for climbing, 27 miles of horse trails, and nearly 20 miles of cross- country ski and snowmobile trails. Swimming and boating is offered on the Rum River and Ogechie and Shakopee Lakes. The campsites are spaced far enough apart for plenty of privacy. Pets are allowed."
