"The Brown’s Creek State Trail is the one of the newest state hiking routes developed as part of Minnesota’s state trail system. Paralleling a section renowned for its trout fishing, the 5.9-mile trail skirts several golf courses after leaving the wooded ravine cut by the creek as it flows into the St. Croix north of Stillwater. The western third of the trail is shared by horseback riders and ends at the Duluth Junction intersection with the Gateway State Trail (see next hike), an 18-mile multiuse route whose northern terminus is in Pine Point Park (Hike 56), just a few miles north of Stillwater. The addition of the Brown’s Creek route to the existing options provided by the Gateway State Trail means a hiker can walk from downtown Saint Paul all the way to downtown Stillwater—enjoying a broad, paved hike/bike corridor all the while."
