Old Mill State Park Professional Review and Guide
"Old Mill State Park combines the beauty of natural surroundings with a bit of state history. The park runs along the Middle River and has both forest and prairie, as well as an original 1882 homestead and nineteenth- century gristmill. Campers can enjoy a wide variety of recreation and wildlife in this mostly untouched spot of wilderness, including 7 miles of hiking trails. Pets are allowed.
Minnesota may be best known for its northeast corner along Lake Superior, and certainly that’s a strikingly beautiful place, but the northwest part of the state, while very different in terrain and feel, has great beauty as well. Even better, it has excellent outdoor recreational opportunities. Along the borders of the Dakotas and the Red River Valley, the land is flat, and you can drive for miles and see nothing but immense tracts of agriculture."
