Birch Coulee Park

Birch Coulee Park Professional Review and Guide

"This rustic, tent-only campground is near a historic spot, the site of the Battle of Birch Coulee, one of the deadliest battles in the US-Dakota War of 1862. Today the battlefield is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and there are walking trails with interpretive signage explaining the significance of the area.

The park is along the Tatanka Bluffs corridor, which has a myriad of recreational offerings too, including canoeing and kayaking on the Minnesota, Redwood, and Cottonwood Rivers, historic sites, horse riding, and wildlife viewing and bird watching. The campground is informally set up, and how crowded it is depends on how many people there are and how big the tents are. Pets are allowed."
