Lake Maria State Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"This park in the northern part of the Twin Cities metro area has one of the last few remaining stands of the Big Woods, an area full of maple, basswood, and oak trees that decades ago covered much of this part of the state. There are 14 miles of hiking trails that meander up and down through the hilly terrain, awarding hikers with beautiful views of the forest and the lake, especially in fall when the leaves change color.
There are also 6 miles of horse trails. Winter offerings include cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and winter hiking. Most of the campsites are remote, with not many next to each other, so privacy is not an issue. Pets are allowed."
