Warehouse District/North Loop Professional Review and Guide
"With the completion of the transcontinental railroad systems in the 1860s, Minneapolis became an important wholesale trade center for the country. By the early 1920s, more than 300 warehouse businesses, including paper, paint, and farm machinery manufacturers, were located here in Minneapolis, and with these new businesses came lots of money. Some of the greatest architects of the day were hired to design these buildings, and they did so with flair."
