Northeast Breweries Tour and Central Avenue Business District Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"In Northeast Minneapolis, a continuous skein of artisanship links the past and the present. The heart of the city’s then-small Italian-American community, Beltrami Park (formerly Maple Hill Cemetery from 1857 until 1890), was renamed for explorer Giacomo Beltrami, who searched for the Mississippi River’s source in 1823. Despite external threats (the construction of I-35W, the failed effort to develop I-335, and successfully navigated urban renewal), the neighborhood survived.
It’s now the gateway to the Northeast Minneapolis Brewing District, thanks to the Surly Bill (2011). So far, five taprooms alone have sprung up in the immediate neighborhood, if you include the nearby Fair State Brewing Cooperative in the Central Avenue Business District"
