Nordeast Minneapolis Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"For most of Nordeast’s history, it was strictly a blue-collar neighborhood, where workers from the nearby Gluek Brewing Company and Minneapolis Brewing Company (later Grain Belt), the rail yards, and the casket and furniture factories made their homes. Many of the original houses were built by the occupants—skilled masons and carpenters—and those few remaining houses attest to their skills.
Since the mid-1990s, the neighborhood has held the annual Art-a-Whirl gallery tour every May, one of the largest open studio tours in the country—and one more indication that this neighborhood has changed since its early days."
