Minnehaha Falls Park

Minnehaha Falls Park Professional Review and Guide

"Minneapolis, at the confluence of Minnehaha Creek and the Mississippi. A tour around the famous falls that inspired Longfellow to write his poem "Hiawatha," and a trail down into deep Minnehaha Creek glen. Special attractions: The falls and a sand bar at the confluence.

Minnehaha Falls is one of the truly unique places in the metro
area. Water drops 53 feet from an overhanging layer of Platteville limestone into a perfect pool formed out of Saint Peter sandstone. This is one of the Twin Cities’ most popular places and access is made easy with steps and platforms to watch the falls from every height and angle. However, this area has more to offer than just the falls."

More Minnehaha Falls Park Professional Reviews and Guides

"I doubt there is a natural landmark in Minneapolis more popular than Minnehaha Falls. It’s always at the top of the list for first-time visitors.

Prior to taking any hike along the creek below the falls, it’s well worth checking out the falls from the upper walkways along the parking lot and across the bridge on the other side of the creek. You’ve got to see the statue of Hiawatha and Minnehaha—the love story that inspired Longfellow to write his famous poem “The Song of Hiawatha.”"
