Downtown Minneapolis Professional Review and Guide
"In the middle of winter, when temperatures can get as low as -40°F, we Minneapolitans are thankful for every inch of the climate-controlled skyway system. These elevated walkways link 80 city blocks together and allow pedestrians and businesspeople to comfortably walk around downtown any time of year without a jacket. Built in the 1960s, Minneapolis’s skyway system is more than 8 miles in length, the longest of its kind in the world. Almost every building in downtown Minneapolis with a street-level entrance will provide easy access to the skyway system Monday–Friday, with limited hours on weekends. During the summer months, fleets of food trucks can be seen congregating along Marquette Avenue between 7th and 8th Sts. through the skyway windows, any one of which is worth a trek down to the street level."
