Snake River McGrath to County Route 3

Snake River: McGrath to County Route 3 Professional Review and Guide

"The narrow upper Snake tumbles over several rapids. Most are easy, but watch out for Upper and Lower Snake River Falls, especially in high water. Be sure to get a recent water-level report before heading out on the upper Snake, which drains quickly and can leave you with an abysmal hike instead of an enjoyable paddle.

The river winds through dense wood with low banks. Despite the general flatness through this region, several short, bouldery rapids punctuate the river. In high water, they form quick and lively chains of small waves. These rapids rate class I in medium water, up to class II in high."
