McDougal Lakes Trail

McDougal Lakes Trail Professional Review and Guide

"This little loop keeps you on your toes and is fun, with several changes in tread type. The route starts on tame gravel road, then gradually narrows to a more primitive path, and at the end there’s even pavement! It doesn’t take long to delve deep into the woods, and there were several herds of deer when I went through.

A couple of spur trails offer expanded mileage, and the back half of the loop has a few steeper rollers to give you a light taste of climbing. The return trip on the highway is smooth as silk, but watch for traffic. McDougal Lakes Campground is close by for some scenic northwoods camping. Tread: Gravel and primitive forest road and paved highway."
