Portsmouth Campground Professional Review and Guide

"Located within the Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area, this campground is part of a movement to reclaim old mining lands. As the mines were abandoned, they were left to go wild and now offer some beautiful natural vistas. This campground is on the shores of Portsmouth Mine Lake, an excellent fishing spot stocked with trout.

It’s also a great swimming lake, and scuba divers take advantage of its 450-foot depth. The Cuyuna Lakes State Trail goes through the recreation area, and there are 25 miles of mountain biking trails as well. The campsites are a mix of shaded and grassy, open sites, with some sites having more privacy than others. Pets are allowed."
