Willard Munger State Trail

Willard Munger State Trail Professional Review and Guide

"This three-trail network offers a variety of multiuse opportunities between the cities of Duluth and Hinckley: the Alex Laveau Memorial Trail, the Matthew Lourey State Trail, and the Hinckley-Duluth segment of the Willard Munger State Trail. Together they offer several connecting routes through this area of Minnesota just beyond the western edge of Lake Superior.

Biking, hiking, and in-line skating are popular summer activities along the 160-mile trail. Winter activity along the trail includes snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. This trail sys-
tem winds its way through striking forested landscapes along a railroad route that played a life-saving role during the Hinckley/Cloquet fires that ravaged this area in the early 1900s."
