Spring Lake Park Reserve: Schaar’s Bluff Trail Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"As well groomed and nicely developed as this park unit is, I was surprised to find such rustic, natural trail segments. Spring Lake Park Reserve has been called the hidden jewel of the Upper Mississippi, and its trail system showcases the scenic bluff area of the Mississippi in a widening of the river called Spring Lake. The park is only a few miles upstream from the confluence of the St. Croix River.
Starting at the parking lot, take the trail that heads east (right) into the woods at the edge of the grassy extensions of the picnic and play areas. In fact, the first 0.5 mile of this trail appears to have been laid out by someone who couldn’t decide whether to walk through the woods or along the open spaces. The trail does both. It’s a wide, mowed avenue through basswoods, oaks, and ashes."
