Upper Sioux Agency State Park Professional Review and Guide
"This park is both scenic and historic, as this area played a pivotal role in the US- Dakota War of 1862. Today it’s popular for its varying terrain, with forests, prairies, and river bluffs. Horse riding is a big draw here with 16 miles of trails. There are 18 miles of hiking trails that take good advantage of the park’s many natural features, with trails going to the top of the Yellow Medicine River Valley hills, then down into the river valley itself.
This is also a hot spot for winter camping, with snowmobiling and cross-country ski trails and an enormous sledding hill. Campsites are generously spaced and mostly wooded, allowing for plenty of shade and privacy. (Note: Although this park does not have any sites that are strictly up to ADA wheelchair standards, many of the sites do work for wheelchairs.) Pets are not allowed."
