Two Island Falls

Two Island Falls Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The falls of the Two Island River provide picturesque falls in an unusual setting— they are the only falls in Minnesota’s Arrowhead region flanked by a mammoth ore-refining environment. The upper falls begin as a tumbling cascade pouring out of a forest of birch into a narrow cleft of rock.

After cascading over several smaller drops, the water plunges freely over a 20-foot falls into a bowl-shaped pool. From the pool the river passes under a railroad trestle and gently tumbles toward Taconite Harbor and Lake Superior. The faint trail from the upper falls wanders back down toward the highway to the smaller lower falls."
