Second Falls—Knife River Professional Review and Guide
"Another destination on the Knife River is Second Falls, and a hearty hike takes you there. The trail, a spur of the Superior Hiking Trail, immediately dives into dense stands of huge, old pines and scattered aspen and birch. The river comes into view to the left, at the bottom of a steep, wooded ridge, and the trail follows the river all the way to the falls.
It is a wonderful stroll through these old woods, with chickadees greeting the day and squirrels chattering double time from verandas of nearby tree branches. Only a short way in, a spur trail leads to the river and an especially scenic stage of cedar and pine ushering the river over a rock ledge."
