Morgan Lake

Morgan Lake Professional Review and Guide

"This route begins with a long portage to some isolated lakes and ends at a boat landing on a busy lake. It connects to several longer routes that lead to the remote interior of the BWCAW and can be used as an alternate entry point in case your first choice is full. Fishing can be very good for trout, walleye, and northern pike. Moose are about. Independence Day storm–affected area.

It is about 3 miles long and apt to be windswept. It is heavily stocked with walleyes and trout but also heavily fished. Unless staying at a resort on Poplar Lake, most canoeists use it for an entry and exit lake only. Take out at the excellent ramp and parking lot on the west end, and shuttle back to Morgan Lake."
