John Lake Loop

John Lake Loop Professional Review and Guide

"This trip follows a section of the Voyageurs highway along the international border, retracing the route these hardy eighteenth-century French Canadians used as a highway to the rich fur trading territory in northwestern Canada.

It leaves the Voyageurs highway at the west end of Mountain Lake and returns to the starting point through a series of waterways. Most of the lakes are long, narrow, and rimmed with high bluffs. Walleye and lake trout fishing could be superb, and the scenery is incomparable. Moose have been spotted on this trip. Independence Day storm–affected area."
