Grand Portage State Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"This park, which contains some of the most spectacular scenery in Minnesota, lies within the Grand Portage Band of the Chippewa Indian Reservation. It is located along the historic Pigeon River, which is the largest stream along the North Shore and an international boundary.
Boreal forest covers the park. The paved, wheelchair- accessible trail follows the river to High Falls. From there, the trail becomes more challenging, climbing steadily on a difficult, rocky footpath where switchbacks are common. This exceptionally rugged 3.5-mile trail to Middle Falls, a three-to-four-hour extension of the High Falls Trail, will reward you with spectacular views."
