Grand Portage National Monument

Grand Portage National Monument Professional Review and Guide

"Mount Rose Trail is a short hike up to a scenic spot overlooking the fort, Grand Portage Bay, and Lake Superior. The portage itself is a long hike over a gently rolling forest trail to Pigeon River.

After exploring the Grand Portage Fort and the historic garden, you have a couple of hiking options within the national monument. One follows the park’s namesake trail up to Pigeon River, the other, the shorter and more scenic Mount Rose Trail, is described here. Special attractions: Grand Portage Fort, Grand Portage Trail, and overlooks of Lake Superior."
